Page detection begins when you open RoleMetric or request it; the Extension does not continuously monitor browsing.
Nothing is analyzed until you select, upload, or paste a resume and start the scan.
RoleMetric does not sell resumes, job descriptions, browser activity, or personal information.
Extension data is used only for the disclosed job-and-resume matching purpose, security, reliability, legal compliance, and other uses permitted by Chrome's Limited Use requirements. It is not used for personalized advertising or unrelated profiling.
Account, website, subscription, and broader service practices remain covered by the RoleMetric Privacy Policy. This page provides the Extension-specific disclosures required for informed installation and use.
The following disclosures describe the production Chrome extension and should match its Chrome Web Store Privacy practices answers.
This Chrome Extension Privacy Notice explains how Astyne LLC (“Astyne,” “RoleMetric,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) accesses, uses, stores, transmits, and protects information when you use the RoleMetric Job Scanner Chrome extension (the “Extension”). It supplements the RoleMetric Privacy Policy. The main Privacy Policy continues to apply to your RoleMetric account, the RoleMetric website, saved workspaces, subscriptions, and related services. If this Notice and the main Privacy Policy describe Extension data differently, this more specific Notice controls for use of the Extension.
01Extension Purpose and Scope
The Extension has one purpose: to let you compare a job posting you are viewing with a resume you choose and receive an evidence-based RoleMetric match analysis before applying.
The Extension provides job-description detection, resume selection or upload, a limited guest scan, account connection, match results, and links to the related RoleMetric report or workspace. These functions support the same job-and-resume comparison purpose.
02When the Extension Accesses a Page
The Extension accesses the active browser tab only after you deliberately open RoleMetric or request page detection. It attempts to identify the job title, company, location, job-description text, page URL, and source website needed for the scan.
The Extension is not designed to continuously monitor browsing, read inactive tabs, collect a general browsing history, change page content, record keystrokes on unrelated pages, or access passwords, payment-card details, private messages, contacts, precise location, camera, or microphone.
If a page cannot be detected reliably, you may review, edit, or manually paste the job description. RoleMetric does not submit detected page content for analysis until you start a scan.
03Resume and Job Information You Choose
To run a scan, you may upload a PDF, DOCX, or TXT resume, paste resume text when guest access is available, or select a resume already saved to your RoleMetric account. The Extension sends the chosen resume content and job information to RoleMetric only when you request analysis.
A resume may contain personal and professional information such as your name, contact information, general location, employment history, education, skills, certifications, projects, work authorization, and any other information you included. Review the document first and remove Social Security numbers, financial account details, government identifiers, medical records, or other information that is unnecessary for a job-matching scan.
04Account and Authentication Information
Signing in is optional for the first eligible guest scan and required for subsequent scans and account features. When you connect an account, RoleMetric may receive your account identifier, name, email address, profile image, saved-resume names, subscription or usage status, and recent saved scans.
Authentication occurs on the RoleMetric website. The Extension does not receive or store your RoleMetric password or Google password. After successful authentication, it stores a short-lived account session token in Chrome local storage so it can securely request your resumes and save scans to the correct account. Disconnecting the Extension removes that token from Extension storage.
05Information Stored by the Extension
The Extension may use Chrome local or session storage for the account session token, a random guest identifier, whether the free guest scan was used, the currently detected job, and guest resume text entered for the active workflow. An uploaded resume file is held in the Extension's working memory while needed for the requested scan and is not placed in Chrome local storage by the Extension.
Chrome controls the underlying browser storage. Clearing Extension data or removing the Extension deletes locally stored Extension information, but does not by itself delete information already saved to your RoleMetric account.
06Information Processed by RoleMetric
RoleMetric receives the resume, job description, job metadata, and limited technical request information needed to authenticate, enforce scan limits, prevent abuse, analyze the match, return results, and diagnose failures.
For a guest scan, RoleMetric records a one-way hash derived from the random guest identifier and a usage marker to enforce the one-free-scan limit. A guest scan is not added to a personal RoleMetric workspace. Service providers may temporarily process the submitted content, and limited security or operational records may be retained as described in the main Privacy Policy.
For a signed-in scan, RoleMetric may save the selected or newly uploaded resume, detected job information, analysis, match score, recommendations, report, and related workspace history to your account so you can return to it. A resume uploaded while signed in is added to your RoleMetric resume library.
07Artificial Intelligence Processing
RoleMetric uses artificial intelligence and automated systems to compare resume evidence with job requirements, estimate screening alignment, identify keyword gaps, and produce recommendations. Resume and job content may be transmitted securely to artificial-intelligence and infrastructure providers acting for RoleMetric only as needed to deliver, secure, and maintain the requested feature.
Generated results are informational estimates. They may be incomplete or inaccurate and do not represent an employer, recruiter, or applicant tracking system. You must review recommendations and documents before using them in an application.
08Chrome Permissions
The Extension requests only permissions used for its disclosed purpose:
- activeTab allows the Extension to read the current page after you invoke it.
- scripting allows the job-description detector to run in that active tab.
- sidePanel displays the scanner beside the job posting.
- storage preserves the Extension session and current workflow.
- identity completes the secure RoleMetric web-authentication flow.
- Host access allows detection on supported job sites and secure communication with the deployed RoleMetric service.
RoleMetric does not use these permissions for advertising, unrelated profiling, or sale of browser data.
09How Information Is Used
Extension information is used to provide the requested job-and-resume analysis, authenticate accounts, load saved resumes, save signed-in scans, maintain recent-scan access, generate reports, enforce plan and guest limits, secure the Service, prevent fraud or abuse, troubleshoot errors, and maintain Extension reliability.
We do not use Extension page content, resumes, or career information for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.
10Disclosure and Service Providers
We may disclose Extension information to cloud hosting, database, authentication, document-processing, artificial-intelligence, security, and monitoring providers acting on our behalf. They may process information only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, or maintain RoleMetric under applicable contractual and data-protection obligations.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate abuse or protect security, in a merger or asset transaction subject to appropriate protections, or when you direct or consent to the disclosure. We do not sell or rent resumes, job descriptions, browser activity, or personal information to advertisers, recruiters, employers, or data brokers.
11Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
RoleMetric's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs and Extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
We use Extension data only to provide or improve the Extension's single, user-facing purpose; maintain its security and reliability; comply with law; or complete a transaction involving the business where legally permitted. We do not transfer Extension data for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated data brokerage.
We do not permit humans to read resume or job content except with the user's affirmative consent for support, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, when required by law, or when the data has been aggregated and de-identified for permitted internal operations.
12Retention and Deletion
Local Extension information remains until it expires, is replaced, you disconnect, you clear Extension data, or you remove the Extension, depending on the data. Guest-limit markers may be retained as reasonably necessary to enforce the free-scan limit and prevent abuse.
Signed-in resumes, scans, reports, and workspace content are retained according to the main RoleMetric Privacy Policy and your account settings. You may delete available items in RoleMetric or request account and personal-information deletion by contacting legal@astyne.com or rolemetric@astyne.com. Removing the Extension does not cancel a subscription or automatically delete your RoleMetric account.
13Security
Extension requests to RoleMetric use encrypted HTTPS connections. We use authentication, access controls, input limits, restricted server endpoints, monitoring, and other reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and RoleMetric account protected and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
14Your Choices and Rights
You choose whether to open the Extension, detect a page, edit detected text, upload or select a resume, run a scan, sign in, save future work, or disconnect. Browser permissions can be reviewed through Chrome's Extension settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. Submit a request to legal@astyne.com or rolemetric@astyne.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
15Children, Changes, and Contact
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users below the age of majority should use it only with required parent or guardian permission.
We may update this Notice when the Extension, law, or our data practices change. The current version and effective date will remain available at this URL. For questions, privacy requests, or complaints, contact:
